When the 5th one enters he finds 1 diamond on the table. Find out the total no. of diamonds originally on the table before the 1st thief entered.
Let initially X diamonds
After first thief left remaining diamonds r (x-4)/2 ie) x/2 - 2
After second thief left remaining diamonds r (x-12)/4
After third thief left remaining diamonds r (x- 28)/8
After fourth thief left remaining diamonds r (x-60)/16
Given After fourth thief left remaining diamonds r one

First tap fill the tank in 10 min., while the second takes quarter of an hour to fill the tank if both are operated independently. Third tap is capable of emptying the tank in seven and a half minutes. If all the taps are opened simultaneously (when the tank is empty) how long (if ever) will it take for the tank to get filled completely?
Let the amt of work be X
A can fill in 10 min, in 1 min 1x/ 10th work of filling
B can fill in quarter of an hour ie) in 1 min 1x/15th work
C can unfill in 7 1/2 min ie) in 1 min 2x/15th work
If all work together 1x/10 + 1x/15 - 2x/15 = x
Solve x = 30 min

* If V is chosen , X must also be chosen

1) Which one of the following is an acceptable combination of paintings for inclusion in the exhibit?
A. T,U,V,X,Y
B. T,U,V,Y,Z
C. T,W,X,Y,Z
D. U,V,W,Y,Z
E. U,V,W,Z,Y
Ans E
When T is present X shud be excluded so above cases failed. When V is there X must be there so

2) If painting T is chosen to be among the paintings included in the exhibit which one of the following cannot be chosen to be among the paintings included in the exhibit?
A. U
B. V
C. W
D. Y

Ans B
when T is there X not there, so if u include V it brings X along with it

A. T is not chosen
B. Y is not chosen
C. U is chosen
D. W is chosen
E. Z is chosen

There r two mthds for it . 1 is by solving a series in arithmetic series, since time is constraint 2mthd is better
My watch is 2 min slow, it loses 2 min in 1 hr, My husband's watch gains 1 min in 1 hr. Together in 1 hr ( 2+1 = 3)
3 min in 1 hr
60 min(1 hr) ??
